Weaver Community Housing Association
Guide to Contributions
We organized in response to a lack of local affordable housing in Carrboro, NC. After discussion and debate, we decided that our efforts would focus on creating living structures that accomplish two main goals:
- Provide permanently affordable and sustainable housing for lower income families and individuals
- Empower residents to make decisions and cooperatively control and maintain their homes and communities
In May of 2006, Weaver Community Housing Association became a 501(c)(3) non-profit. (Our Federal Tax ID is 56-2276970.) Since then, WCHA has become a thriving, affordable housing organization with three unique, cooperatively-run communities in Chapel Hill-Carrboro.
Our organizational model is designed to be interwoven, and community support plays a big role in the improvement of our spaces and the long term success of our organization. From small donations, to community work days, to local government grants; it all means we can make affordable housing a reality in Carrboro. It might not be for you. But if you decide that affordable housing is something important and worth supporting, we welcome you to come and walk with us, work with us, have some fun, and make a difference.
Financial contributions are tax deductible and our Tax ID for contributions is 56-2276970. Time and effort contributions are additive; they build relationships and add to the positive feelings you carry with you day to day. In-kind contributions of products and services are usually tax deductible, but the extent to which you can deduct them will depend on your business and how you file taxes, so we encourage you to consult with your CPA.
If you have provided a contribution and would like a written acknowledgement, please contact the community you are most active with, or consult our website for current info:
